So, I'm trying to loosen up as far as drawing goes; I'm too dependent on references to make realistic figures and portraits (though reference is always important). So I copied a couple sketches from Matteo Scalera (http://matteoscalera.blogspot.com/) - my goal is to learn how he constructs and then regurgitate what I've learned using my own style. The portrait on the right was constructed the same way as the one on the left, but without reference and without emulating anyone's style in particular.
